Contra: Evolution is a 2D action and platform game where you will control an elite soldier who has to fight against the invading forces, starting in the South African jungle.
You can choose from among various different characters, though all of them behave in the same way once you start playing. Unlike what happens in the traditional Contra games, in Contra: Evolution your character shoots automatically without stopping. Thanks to this, you just have to worry about jumping, dodging, and using your special abilities.
Just like in the traditional Contra games, in Contra: Evolution you switch between 2D phases where you have to shoot at enemies and avoid their attacks and phases where you have to move forward while shooting towards the sides of the screen.
Contra: Evolution is a fun platform and shooting game that will also make those who played the original games feel a bit nostalgic. In fact, the way the levels are designed is just like the way the first game in the franchise was designed.
